Hello and welcome back! First, I want to say I hope wherever you are that you and your family are safe. Hurricane Irma was a very real and very scary thing that happened here in Florida this week and I know so many others are struggling with other natural disasters recently. My heart goes out to you if you have been affected.
I don’t know about you, but this girl is ready for the weekend. Crazy is an understatement for how this week went. Despite all the madness, I’m so incredibly thankful to say that my friends and family are all safe and their homes are all okay. This storm was not as bad as we expected it to be where I live. I can’t stress enough how big of a relief that is. So many are still without power, lost their homes, or even their lives. Needless to say, this was a stressful week for so many of us.
Today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite ways of de-stressing after a stressful week.
Even though I live in Florida and it’s still summer, I’m always cold and if I’m at home, chances are I’m bundled under a blanket. On days where I’m feeling extra frosty, I’ll slip on some fuzzy socks or slippers. I love these pug socks I found on Amazon. They come in a pack with different dog breeds. How cute are they?
I love wearing my pjs, grabbing a good book, lighting a candle, and curling up in bed. I’ve brought out my fall candles this week since fall officially starts next Friday! The smell of pumpkin is so nostalgic for me. The smell immediately relaxes me and also gets me excited for my favorite season. (Boots and scarves season!)
Of course, some of my immediate stress relief comes from spending time with my family. Especially my dogs. They bring so much joy into my life and taking time to snuggle them never fails to make me feel better.
Hot drinks make my heart happy. I love teas and coffee. Earl Grey is my favorite tea and I drink it with a little honey. It’s light and warm and does a great job of helping me relax.
There is something I find so relaxing in reading. I’m currently reading The Magnolia Story. I love Fixer Upper and Chip and Joanna Gaines. (But really, who doesn’t!?) I’ve had this book for months and just recently made the time to read it. I really like it so far!
I also love face masks. I try to do one every weekend. They help my skin feel refreshed and clean, especially after a long week. Target has some great masks that are inexpensive but still get the job done when it comes to making you feel pampered! I found these gel eye masks at Marshalls that look like cucumber slices and you can pop in the fridge for a few minutes and put on your eyes to help reduce any puffiness.
What are your tips for managing stress? What books are you reading right now?
Let me know in the comments! Until next time!
