To Meat or Not To Meat?

Hello and welcome back! I hope you all have had a productive first week of this new year! I know I have. Side note – have you guys seen the weather lately?! This has been very unusual for Florida. The low is 21 degrees tonight. There was even snow yesterday in parts of Florida. It’s crazy. We even had to wait for our windshield to defrost before going to work today. (I honestly don’t know the last time I had to do that!) I am loving this weather while it lasts.

Anyway, I wanted to share a few thoughts about food today. Isaac and I have had much discussion about cutting back on eating meat, so we have started trying to eat meat only once a week. I really want to be more conscious of the food we eat and products we use.

We have started buying eggs that are “cage free” and have been more conscious of buying products that are “cruelty free.” I used to not want to think about the production of these items so that I wouldn’t be discouraged from buying products and food I like, but lately it’s become too big for me to ignore. This year I really want to focus on my health. Aside from saving money by eating at home, it’s become really fun to find and try new recipes that are both healthy and tasty!

Isaac and I have really loved cooking together. It’s a fun thing we can do at the end of the day to spend time together and just talk. We listen to music and make our meal together. It’s come to be one of the best parts of my day.

I never feel lethargic and overstuffed after eating a healthy meal we have made at home, but if we eat Chick-fil-a or McDonald’s, I eat every last fry and every last drop of Chick-fil-a sauce. No surprise, I feel disgusting after.

I’m not sure if we will become vegetarian or vegan, but we have certainly become more aware. I think awareness is the first step!

What are you guys the most focused on this year? Let me know in the comments!
