Yep! You read that title right! AHH! Today I’m sharing the biggest news I’ve had in a while!
Two weeks ago today, my best friend in the entire world asked me a super important question. In a matter of a moment, my boyfriend became my fiancé. (I get butterflies every time I think about it and I get super emotional!) For the first time in my life, I was speechless and through my tears I managed to quickly nod and after a few more tears and a huge hug, I managed to say, “Of course I will!”
Isaac proposed in such an intimate and personal way that meant so much to me. The moment was OUR moment and it couldn’t have been more “us.” Isaac is the funniest person I know and makes me laugh harder than anyone. He is my very best friend and knows me better than I know myself. I have loved him from the very start and have never doubted that he is the one for me.
I can’t wait to document and share this process and also be able to reflect on things I’m feeling now once we get in the thick of the planning and eventually married. (It still sounds so weird). It’s so crazy how one second you are having a completely normal day and then all of the sudden you know that you are going to remember this day for the rest of your life.
I don’t think I have ever felt this much happiness and love. Our families and friends have been SO incredibly wonderful and supportive and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. We shared the news with our immediate family and closest friends shortly after it happened and everyone was thrilled. The day after the proposal, we spent the afternoon at my parents’ house with my family and celebrated.
We already had planned a trip to Washington DC for my birthday so two days after we got engaged we left for DC and got to celebrate our engagement and our first vacation as fiancés! Our very first trip we ever took together was to DC and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. Naturally, we brought our camera and tripod so we could have our own little engagement photo shoot. Here are some of our photos!
I feel like I blinked and it’s already been two weeks. Everyone has been telling me to just enjoy being engaged for a bit before we start planning, so I think that’s exactly what we are going to do! Thank you so much for reading. Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples? Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear it!
